Some Scarecrow Fun For Your Family’s Festivities
over 3 years ago – Sat, Nov 21, 2020 at 03:32:25 AM

Greetings, Gothamites!

We just wanted to pop in before the weekend to let you know that we’ll be away next Thursday and Friday for the holiday. We’ll be back to our regular posting schedule the following week on December 4th. To keep you occupied until then, we went on the hunt for the most seasonally appropriate goodies to share. Since we are (sadly?) missing Farmer Brown and Emmylou, we went with the next best thing -- Scarecrow. Enjoy your horrifying harvest, and happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Mechanic Spotlight: Ticking Time Bombs
over 3 years ago – Sat, Nov 14, 2020 at 02:18:28 AM

Hey there, caped crusaders! 🦸

Today’s update is all about preparing you for your Gotham adventures with an introduction to one of the trickiest and niftiest additions to the AUGS -- Time Bombs. Here’s what you’ll see when you know your day is about to blow up.

On the back of this dastardly demolition device, you’ll find some handy key information.

Not only is time not on your side, but miscut wires will also send you headlong into total destruction. There are a few key ways of dealing with this particular puzzle, which we’ll cover here in today’s introductory hero lesson.

High Risk:

The bold and the brash will be inclined to defuse the bomb straight away, taking a special action when adjacent to the bomb to choose a wire token to cut. Once that selection is made, it’s flipped over to reveal success or failure. If it’s a success, the bomb is defused and no further actions are required. Time to get back to beating up the baddies! On the other hand, if it’s a fail, the ticking gets louder (lose 1 tick token).

Low Risk:

Now, for those of you with a solid head on your shoulders, you’ll be more interested in this route to defusal. While adjacent to the bomb, you can make an Investigate special action to check whether a wire token is a success or failure. While you’ll need to take a standard action to cut the success wire when you find it, investigating a wire doesn’t cause your bomb to tick down. Slow and steady wins the race!

As in most strenuous situations, things aren’t always black and white. Depending on the combatants you face, the goals of your scenario, and sheer dumb luck, you’ll likely find yourself using a blend of these two strategies when one pops up.

Do you have any questions on these tricky tickers for our own Pete Walsh? Leave them down in the comments and we’ll continue our hero lesson there. Since we’re edging closer and closer to the holidays, how about a guessing game? What do you think Pete has up his sleeve for his surprise? 🎁

A Holiday Horror Treat Courtesy Of The Phantasm 💀
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 31, 2020 at 03:09:35 AM

Greetings, Gothamites.

We’re celebrating the holiday weekend with an extra special preview from one of Batman’s spookiest storylines -- The Mask of the Phantasm! Since this character (no spoilers) will also be joining the Batman/Catwoman comics later this year, it seemed doubly well-suited for today’s update. Enjoy the first few pages of this dark and stormy story pack:

The neat thing you’ll notice in that table of contents is that all three scenarios are played in one of two ways -- Competitive with 1 hero, 1 villain, and 1 Phantasm player or Cooperative with 1 hero, 1 Phantasm, and Villain AI. Plenty of replayability with one terrifying constant presence!

That’s a wrap on today’s Gotham City tour. Happy Halloween from the IDW Games Team!

Quick Bundle Update
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 17, 2020 at 02:52:19 AM

Greetings, Gothamites!

Just a short one this week. Since Pete is currently in transit to his new abode, we’ll hold off on any crazy reveals (though we were sorely tempted). Instead, we’ll let you know that we’re working on getting the TMNT bundles shipped out as soon as possible. We’ve sent off our lists and are just waiting on some final confirmations from our fulfillment partners to get started.

A quick note for our EU backers awaiting bundles:

As you’re probably aware from the original campaign, our first batch of games for the EU was rejected at customs for new labeling. We got that taken care of and EU backers now have their games, but it does mean that we’ll need to relabel all of your bundles before they ship out. We’re currently working on finalizing that process, which will likely involve the games shipping down to our warehouse so we can relabel them by hand and get them sent on their way. We will have a more set in stone timeline to share within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for responding to our bat-signal. See you down in the comments! 🦇

Winter Is Coming ❄️
over 3 years ago – Sun, Oct 04, 2020 at 06:25:28 AM

Yes, that was a terrible subject line. No, we couldn’t resist.

Today’s mini-update is that we are still on track to begin shipping in late December. If you’re planning on giving the gift of AUGS this holiday season, don’t worry. Pete’s working on a special printable surprise to deck the halls in true bat-style.

Speaking of the impending season of cold, today’s share is Pete’s own painted Mr. Freeze!

Pete saw that a lot of you were really interested in finding a bubble to top off this icy ensemble. He tried a few different options, and settled on this plastic dome. You can find one of your own by searching for clear styrene plastic dome sprues at 8mm and 10mm tall. Even better, that means you’ll have a back-up in case you want to homebrew up a Nora. So, what do you think? Really captured that icy essence, right?

Have a frozen Friday!

(No, not that kind.🎵 )
